Genealogical Credentials

9/14/2018

Genealogists are generally not required by law to be licensed or certified.

I first became  a Certified Lineage Specialist and then a Certified Genealogist.

There are many competent people in my profession who have not done this.

When hiring a professional Genealogist, you may want to verify their education, years of experience, and the type of genealogical research that they have performed for Clients. You may want to visit their Linkedin.com profile or Facebook page to see if they have any Client comments. You may want to ask for references. I am pleased to have received many compliments from satisfied Clients over the years, from both individuals and organizations.

Do not assume that because a person pays dues to a membership organization that they have the qualifications and experience you require.
